Three generations of ferry excellence in the Abacos
Hey island hoppers! 🌊 Ready to ride with the OG of Abaco ferries? Albury's Ferry Service has been THE way to get around these turquoise waters since 1959 - yep, that's the same day Marsh Harbour airport opened! Talk about perfect timing, right?
Started by Marcell Albury with just that one boat, today's fleet rocks 12 custom-built "Donnies" - those sleek fiberglass beauties you see zipping between the cays. After Hurricane Dorian tried to knock 'em down, they came back stronger than ever with a bigger, better terminal and boats that are basically floating lounges. We're talking semi-enclosed comfort, experienced captains who've been doing this longer than some of us have been alive, and safety gear that'll make you feel secure even if you're not a water person.
Big News! Albury's and G&L Transportation have announced a merger of their Abaco ferry operations. All the familiar Marsh Harbour–cays routes keep running, and because the two brands have long covered the same waters, you may see departures listed under either name. The upside for travellers: more coordinated, frequent schedules between Marsh Harbour and the cays. Either way, you still buy your ticket at the dock — no reservation required.
