Where Island Heritage Meets Modern Service

Three generations of ferry excellence in the Abacos

Hey island hoppers! 🌊 Ready to ride with the OG of Abaco ferries? Albury's Ferry Service has been THE way to get around these turquoise waters since 1959 - yep, that's the same day Marsh Harbour airport opened! Talk about perfect timing, right?

"When Captain Ritchie tells stories about the old days running the 'Junonia' - their first 40-foot Maine lobster boat - you realize this isn't just a ferry service, it's living Bahamian history. These folks know every reef, every current, and probably every fish by name!"

Started by Marcell Albury with just that one boat, today's fleet rocks 12 custom-built "Donnies" - those sleek fiberglass beauties you see zipping between the cays. After Hurricane Dorian tried to knock 'em down, they came back stronger than ever with a bigger, better terminal and boats that are basically floating lounges. We're talking semi-enclosed comfort, experienced captains who've been doing this longer than some of us have been alive, and safety gear that'll make you feel secure even if you're not a water person.

Big News! Albury's and G&L Transportation have announced a merger of their Abaco ferry operations. All the familiar Marsh Harbour–cays routes keep running, and because the two brands have long covered the same waters, you may see departures listed under either name. The upside for travellers: more coordinated, frequent schedules between Marsh Harbour and the cays. Either way, you still buy your ticket at the dock — no reservation required.

Albury's Ferry FAQ

Quick answers for island hopping in the Abacos

Round-trip fares are about $25 per adult and $15 per child (ages 6–12) from Marsh Harbour to Hope Town, Man-O-War Cay or Great Guana Cay; one-way is about $15 adult and $10 child. Children 5 and under ride free with a paying adult. You pay at the dock, and fares can vary, so confirm current prices before you board (2026).

Where does Albury's Ferry leave from?

Hope Town and Man-O-War Cay ferries depart from Albury's Crossing Beach dock in Marsh Harbour. Great Guana Cay and Bakers Bay runs leave from the Red Bay dock at the north end of Great Abaco. No online reservation is needed for scheduled runs — just buy your ticket at the dock.

Do I need a reservation?

No. Albury's runs scheduled daily departures and you simply pay at the dock before boarding. Private charters are available seven days a week and can be arranged in advance by calling the office at (242) 367-0290.

Which islands does Albury's Ferry serve?

Albury's connects Great Abaco with Hope Town (Elbow Cay), Man-O-War Cay, Great Guana Cay and Bakers Bay. None of these cays allow rental cars, so the ferry is how most visitors get around the Sea of Abaco.

Is Albury's Ferry the same as G&L Ferry?

Albury's Ferry Service (running since 1959) and G&L Transportation (founded 2012) announced a merger to combine their Abaco ferry operations. Both brands serve the same Marsh Harbour–cays routes, and schedules can appear under either name, so check current times at the dock. See our G&L Ferry guide for more.
