West Capital Ferry Company, a Bahamian-owned operator led by president Frederick N. Black, has proposed a passenger ferry connecting West End, Grand Bahama with West Palm Beach, Florida. The plan calls for an 86-seat vessel with a crossing of roughly three hours, positioned as an affordable alternative to the Fort Lauderdale routes. The project was first announced for a 2025 launch, but as of June 2026 it has not started service and no firm sailing date or fares have been confirmed. We'll update this page if and when tickets go on sale — in the meantime, Baleària Caribbean remains the only scheduled US–Grand Bahama passenger ferry.

Good news for Abaco island hoppers: Albury's Ferry Service has merged with G&L Transportation. The familiar routes from Marsh Harbour to Hope Town and Man-O-War Cay all keep running, with the merger aimed at more reliable schedules and better coordination. Both still offer private charters. Bahamas Ferries now runs these routes primarily as freight services, with limited or seasonal passenger capacity rather than a fixed daily passenger schedule. If you need to ship cargo or are counting on a sailing, contact Bahamas Ferries directly to confirm the current departures before you plan around them — schedules on these routes change frequently.
Current published fares run from about $199 round-trip to Bimini (taxes included; one-way from $93 + taxes) and from $240 round-trip to Freeport.
